PUT MORE SHEEP, GOATS
BORDER COLLIES AND
AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERDS
ON THE JOB-SAVE THACHER
In the more remote parts of West Cork
and Kerry, locals practice a form of
mountain commons grazing or
transhumance that dates back to medieval
times.
Why not apply this practice to Thacher
Park to keep the fields and grass areas
trim and tidy?
Albany County Executive Michael Breslin
said while the county doesn't have money
for the parks, he will work with organizations
to reopen Thacher and other sites in the county.

Reach out to local farmers to put sheep and goats
to graze Thacher during the summer months.
Border Collies and Australian Shepherds can
keep an eye on the stock as they graze, keeping
the grass well trimmed. The herds can move
from one part of the park, to another, so that
overgrazing does not occur.
Cornell Coopertive Extension of Albany County
could coordinate this effort, with local farmers.
As for rest rooms, how about the Plumbers and
Steamfitters Union volunteers getting the rest
rooms up and running? Other volunteers could
keep them clean and tidy.
Parking lots can be maintained by volunteers
from city, town and county street and highway
Departments.
Prisoners from the county jail could assist under
supervision of guards, in any or all of the above
chores. Prisioners will earn their room and board
while doing a public service. They, and the guards
will benefit from getting some fresh air and sunshine.
Various organizations could adopt specific parts
of the park, hold volunteer working picnics to
keep those parts of the park operational and in
good form.
Law and order, and security, could be kept by
volunteers from state, city, town law enforcement
agencies. City and volunteer fire departments
and local hospitals could provide volunteers
for EMT and emergency service.
Volunteers from county, city and town water
and health departments could make sure that
the park water supply is functional and safe
Need more volunteers? Where are the many
thousands of Thacher supporters who signed
petitions on Facebook?
Need to raise money? How about some groups
holding a few concerts on summers evenings
at Thacher?
Come on people - use your imagination. Do
your part to transform America back to the
way it was in days gone by.

KEEP THACHER PARK OPEN
Governor Paterson has ordered the park closed.

Thacher Park can be kept open, with a bit
of creativity.
The grass can be kept trimmed by herds of
goats and sheep grazing the fields.
Prisoners from the Albany County jail can
maintain the rest rooms and parking lots.
It will be good for prisoners and guards
to get out in the fresh air and sunshine.
Local Boy Scout/ Girl Scout and Cub Scout
troops can adopt parts of the park , where
they can hold camp outs and do needed
work.
Tea Party folks can also adopt and maintain
parts of the park, in coordination with the
thousands who have signed up on facebook

The people must rise to the challenge and
not submit to gubernatorial tyranny.

Does the family bequest contain a clause
that the park reverts back to family owner-
ship? If so, heirs could decide to sell off

CLOSING STATE PARKS
HISTORIC SITES ONLY
PUNISHES THE PUBLIC
FOR A FISCAL CRISIS
THAT IS THE DOING OF
THE GOVERNOR AND
STATE LEGISLATORS.
Excessive spending on public education,
welfare, medicaid, prisons, courts and
the state legislature, in the face of declining
tax revenues has produced the current
New York State and local fiscal crisis.

President Obama's objective of fundamentally
(radically) transforming America through federal
control of health care and education, amnesty for
illegal aliens and cap and trade, among other
initiatives, only compounds the state and local
budgetary crises and the related fiscal crises faced
by the general public in their personal lives.
The priority is security at the national, state and
local levels. If we are not safe nothing else will
matter.
Instead of attempting to radically transform
America the President should be concentrating
on keeping America and all Americans safe.

HOLDING THE PEOPLE HOSTAGE
IS A DUMB MOVE. WISE UP!

Writing letters and e mails, making phone calls
to these birds is just a waste of time. No pleadng
begging or compromising!
Direct ballot line challenges are the best options.

reconsider park closures ... if we can show him
how to find funds to keep parks open:
"What I'm saying is if anyone has a better idea and
can find a way to save us the resources, then
obviously we'd reconsider," the governor said of
the parks closures. "But I don't see that as happening..."

That is less than the cost of Governor Paterson's
campaign announcement swing, LI to Rochester
and Harlem, this weekend.
Less than salaries and benefits for 2 aides on his
staff, for one year.
Less than salaries/benefits for two of the four
Assembly Members who purport to represent
Albany County, for one year.
Less than the salary and staff allotment for
a state senator SD 46 (Albany County), for one
year.
Far less than the 2 million dollar grant that
Congressman Paul Tonko recently delivered
to Siena College for Penquin study in Anarctica.
Far less than the annual social services budget
for Albany County.
Far less than the $240,000 SSI (Crazy Money)
payments to 40 Albany City School pupils,
for one year. (The parent(s)/guardian(s) get
the money)
Closing Thacher and other parks amounts to
punishing citizens for the sins of those who
purport to represent us in state government.
The human physical , mental health and
environmental costs of closing Thacher far
outweigh the meagre $225,000 alleged savings.
A word to self-appointed spokes persons for
Thacher Park who appear in and on local media.

open.
Penguins in Antarctica are more
important than the people of Albany

KEEP THACHER PARK OPEN
Went for a hike in Thacher Park today.
A lovely late winter day. The sun was bright.
The sky blue. Strong NW winds blew soft
newfallen snow across open fields.
Cattle huddled together , on a nearby farm
seeking shelter from the cold winds
The woods were quiet and peaceful. The
tall trees swayed in the wind.
A bit of heaven on earth.
The cares of the cities and suburbs on
the lowlands beyond the park cliffs
seemed far away.
It is good to see so many thousands
of local residents rallying to send a clear
message to Governor Paterson, State
Senator Neil Breslin and Assembly
Members McEneny, Canestrari, Gordon
Riley and Congressman Tonko -
