What Commander in Chief sets specific
withdrawal dates for leaving the field of
battle?

This foolhardy policy,  is getting more
U S and, allied troops, killed as well
as Afghan civilians, and  precludes
any chances of the U S prevailing in
Afghanistan.

Add to this rules of engagement that put
the lives of our troops at risk and billions
of dollars spent trying to buy the loyalties
of Afghans.

Sure they will take the money with one
hand while cooperating with the Taliban
with the other.

Time to shape up or ship out in Afghanistan!

Better to bring the troops home to the U S-
Mexican border, secure that border,  defeat
the drug cartels and halt the invasion of our
country by tens of millions of illegal aliens
among them OTM's that are sworn to destroy
America.

What President and what Congress applauds
and bows to a tin horn Mexican leader who
comes as a guest and insults America, and all
Americans, in our Nation's Capitol?

Get tough with Mexico. End all trade. No U S
tourism to Mexico. Embargo all export of
money to Mexico by banks and the  tens of
millions of illegals, living here, and sending
U S dollars there.

Force the Mexican government to end the
drug trade and tide of illegal imigration
from their side of the border.

The Mexicans know President Obama is
no Gringo - he is an appeaser who bows to
every tyrant he meets.

Certainly, NOT worthy of being Commander
In Chief in this time of peril for America.

Where are the  Members of Club Congress?
Who among them will step up to lead the
charge to Impeach Obama? Paul Tonko?

Where is Paul Tonko, when he is not in
Albany, boasting to misguided Peace activists
that he voted against increased funding for
our troops in Afghanistan?

Everyone desires Peace, but not at any price.
Not by appeasing your foes. Not by selling
out ,and contributing to the demise of, America
and all Americans.

We have not the likes of Black Jack Pershing
Patton and MacArthur when we need them
now.

RIGHT ON - WRITE IN
VOTE THEM OUT
WRITE US IN

The electoral process in New York is a
form of organized, legal tyranny which
is designed and utilized to benefit insiders
of the two major political parties: Democrat
and Republican.

In this case a  Dominant Democratic Party
and their vassals in the Republican Party.

These political parties work hand in glove;
they appoint the elections commissioners
hire the lawyers to knock challengers off
the ballot, and they select the judges who
rule the petitions of challengers to be
invalid.

The deck is stacked against challengers
from the start to finish.

Remember, there are only two political
parties, those in power (insiders) and
those who seek to be in power (outsiders).

They go by different names, at different
times and places.

At the top of the heap, they work hand
in hand. Only those, lower on the food
chain, are truly partisan, to a fault.

Last week the NYS Board of Elections
ruled my Conservative Party petition
invalid for having less than the required
of signatures because of  objections raised
by Theodore Danz, his allies and GOP
attorney,  who alledged that my petition
had 99 invalid signatures. The SBOE
in a report issued July 28, reduced that
number to 27 and stated I was 17 signatures
short of qualifying for the ballot.

I went to the Albany County Board of
Elections, knowing that the county board
rolls would be more accurate and up to
date that the SBOE rolls, and found 17
of the 27 were enrolled Conservatives.
that put me right at the mark.

The next day, July 29, the SBOE held
a hearing to review my petition and
objections thereto.

Danz was represented by a GOP
attorney, or two, and GOP State
Senate political operative Dan Farrell.

The hearing officer would not consider
the 17 signatures I claimed to be valid.
She further advised me that the SBOE
had reduced the July 28 report of
qualifying signatures by 2, leaving me
2 short of qualifying. No prior notice
of explanation of why was provided to
be, nor has the SBOE so provided me
to this date.

I went over the county voter rolls even
more closely, the next day, and found
one more signature to be that of an
enrolled Conservative - bring the
number to 18 of the 27 which the SBOE
28 July staff report declared invalid.
This would leave me 1 signature of the
mark to qualify for the ballot, ( or
1 over if the SBOE number of July 28
were the base, and SBOE concurred
with and accepted my findings that
18 of those 27 signatures declared invalid
by SBOE staff, were enrolled voters
of the Conservative party.


I advised the SBOE of this information
complete with voter ID numbers, names
addresses, etc. in advance of the August
5  SBOE Commissioners' meeting to rule
on petitions.

In addition,  I submitted an allegation
of voter fraud by one of the principal
witnesses on the Danz petition, who
discarded 12 valid petition signatures
for me, obtained and witnessed by a
Schenectady Conservative.

These 12 signatures would have put
me over the mark.

That person submitted a notarized
statement validating this incident of
voter fraud.

No evidence that the SBOE even
considered these factors.

On August 6, a UPS delivery dropped
at my door, informed me that the SBOE
had invalidated my petition because of
insufficent signatures.

The Board also validated the petitions
of Incumbent Tonko for the Democratic
Independence and Working Families party
ballot lines' and Danz for the Republican
and Conservative party ballot lines, and
certificates of acceptance and party
authorizations (Wilson Pakulas) relating
thereto - ignoring the objections I filed
with regard to same - that none of these
documents bear the correct public office
title - Representative In Congress,
21st Congressional District, New York.

My authorities for this are the U S
Constitution, Art 1, Secs 1, 2, 3 and 4
and the official websites of the SBOE
Albany County BOE. Check them out.

My petition was the only one that
correctly identified the public office.

Mine was ruled invalid, while the others
were not?  Strict construction of the law
for one and not the others? 

If the Election Law were evenly applied
by the SBOE, all petitions, and related
documents objected to should have been
declared invalid.

So, I can go to Court by this coming
Tuesday to ask for a judicial de novo
review.

This would take a lawyer - one who
would have the ability and independence
to take on the case. No lawyer who wants
a career in the 3rd Department will,
dare represent me, in what would be
a fascinating landmark challenge to
the political insiders.


My objections are soundly based.

I could bring a pro se action, but this
would require more money and resources
than I have. 500 dollars or more. The
law library has limited summer hours.
Brushing up on all the forms, procedures
rules, timelines involved is not an easy
task. Many a court case is lost, not
on substance, but on techicalities.

So what to do?   Endorse Tonko?
Endorse Danz? (barf) Sit out the election?
Give up? Sit in and play a game where the
deck is stacked? Attend another Tea Party
rally and listen to the same old speeches
presented by the same cast of players.

The one held at the State Capitol yesterday
was more like a sparsely attended wake.

(However, there were some rousing speeches
and the small crowd was genuinely in support
of taking back our government and restoring
our representative Republican form of
government.

One highlight, though was the rousing
speech prepared by GOP handlers and
read by Ted Danz, Rick Lazio supporters
all. Somehow, I missed it, and so did most
of the crowd.  Carl Paladino has Tea Party
support. Lazio does not. So, why was Danz
at the rally?)

None of these are acceptable options.

Too much is at stake in the November
2 General Election. The survival of America
and all Americans, (even 21st CD leftists)
are on the line.  When the ship goes down
all hands will be lost.

If you deny this, you are simply not paying
attention to reality.

This is America, where all things are
possible.  

A new paper ballot electronic voting
procedure will apply to the November 2
General Election.

This procedure will make it easier than
ever to do a write in vote for the public
office of Representative in Congress
21st Congressional District, NY, and
any other public office up for election
on November 2.

Like many of my kin who served in
the U S Cavalry on the Western Frontier
when their horses were shot out from
under them, the troopers fought on foot.

The SBOE shot my Conservative ballot
line horse out from under me, August 5.

Trying to rope another mount in the
form of the  Independent Taxpayer Party
ballot  line is too elusive, and likely to meet
the same fate at the hands of  Danz and
his GOP objectors and attorneys,

Fortunately, I have plenty of ammo and
have the internet for my weapon.

I don't need a horse to win this fight!

No need to  beg for and spend a lot of
money to bombard the inattentive electorate
with constant subliminal media messages
tons of literature sent via the mails or
left littering their front doors and lawns,
or to participate in rigged debates
sponsored by groups aligned with the
political insiders or to be interviewed
by print reporters, and others, seeking
to land flack jobs in state agencies as
a reward for their "reporting" efforts.

The media won't give me the time of day
because I won't be contributing the big
cash they look forward to every election
in order to stay afloat. I know their game
and won't pay to play.

So, how will I get my message to the
voters? 

The internet and word of mouth! And
maybe, local talk radio.

This blog is being read around the U S
and world. ( A big shout out to readers in
Ft Myers, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the
Muslim world)

the voters of the 21st Congressional District.

MUSINGS ON A
LATE SUMMER DAY

Thank God for Canada.  Yesterday and
today, we had some relief from the very
hot weather of the last month or so.

Weather systems originating in Canada
bring us reief from the summer heat, and
lovely Fall days. However, they also bring
us bitter cold, winds and snows in winter.

I have to get my emergency firewood stash
split and replentished before the snow flies.

The vegetable garden was neglected this year
while I dragged around in the heat getting
signatures to qualify for the November 2
ballot.

Nevertheless, my garden has been productive
and taken care of itself, producing yields that
more than cover the rent of  the land.

Plenty of lettuce, spinach, chives and turnip
early - but, no potatoes, for the first time in
many years.  I always plant in March, but the
snow cover was scarce and some deep frosts
occurred. No doubt, some of blight from last
year overwintered to finish off what survived
the frost.

A great yield of garlic which I had planted
last October. Also, some very nice small
tomatoes , swiss chard, summer squash , pole
beans and a small early crop of raspberries.

Plenty of Russian kale, which produces
a tremendous yield and will taste best after
some Autumn frosts.

A huge crop of late raspberries should come
in late August, early September. Also, some
elderberry

The flowers have been grand, first the
brilliant yellow of the Forsythia in early
Spring, followed by the puple and blue
if Lilacs, the red and purples of the
Rugosa Roses ,  yellow Yarrow and
brilliant orange of the native Tiger
Lillies. Now the purple Coneflowers, wild
daisies and delicate, white Queen Ann Lace.

I cut some of the hay and brush early
yesterday morning at  dawn. Next, the
land must be cleared and tilled for
a Fall Crop of lettuce, spinach, cabbage
beets, mustard spinach and purple top
turnips.

But, the heat is due to return tomorrow
making that a real challenge for a man who
functions best when the temperatures are in
the 60's, or lower, and the sky overcast.

The Red Dogwood , Forsythia, Lilac and
Rugosa Rose  bushes are overgrown and will
have wait for trimming ,  thinning  and
transplanting, til the weather is right.

The Red Dogwoods  loose their leaves
in early winter, leaving bright red branches
to contrast, with the white snow.

The birds don't mind at all, neither do
I, the bushes provide habit and privacy.

I rarely have insect or potato beattle
problems as a result.

The Maple and 2 Scots Pines are doing well.
The mosquitoes at early dawn and dusk
present a challenge, and a risk of West Nile
at those times.

The ticks disappered during the intense
heat, but they will return in force in the Fall
looking for their blood meal to survive the
Winter. Transmit Lyme disease, as well as
several other lesser known, understood
diseases.


No butternut squash or pumpkins this
year.

We will get those from Schoharie, along
with picking Ida Red, and other varieties
of apples at the orchard that allows Mick
and Paddy to go along.

I have to get some new seed garlic to plant
in October. Maybe white clover and winter
rye for cover crops.

The kale and turnips continue to yield
to as late as early December, in a good year.

However, observing the signs, I expect that
we will have an early and severe winter.

All the more reason not to ignore the
emergency firewood stash.

Well, time for a bit of tea and a bite to
eat.

Will continue musings when the muse
is in the humor again.

AUGUST

August, my father would say, was the
most eventful month in his life.

He was born August 25, 1904.

His father, my grandfather, Michael J
died August 24, 1908, at age 34, in
Rhyolite, Nevada one of the last gold
rush mining camps located on the edge
of Death Valley.

Mike was a hard rock miner first in Butte
Montana, then Cripple Creek, Colorado
winding up in Tonopah, Goldfield and
Rhyolite, Nevada. Mike was also a
union organizer for the Western Federation
of Miners and a participant in the mine
wars at Cripple Creek, Goldfield and
Tonopah.

He was one of many of our ancestors
and relations that went mining in the
American West beginning with the gold
rush of 49, then on to the Washoe District
and Comstock, Virginia City, Nevada in
the 1850's. St Mary's RC Church built
by Berehaven, Irish miners, still stands
there.

From there, the clan went to subsequent
gold camps throughout the Rocky Mountain
West, The Black Hills and later the Yukon.

Some were in the U S Cavalry on the
frontier. Others went cattle ranching in
O'Neill, Nebraska, Montana, The Dakotas
and Nevada. More went sheepherding
around Casper, Wyoming.

Some entered politics and became
Aldermen, Congressmen, U S Senators
and Governors.

In August 1908, his Grandmother, Julia
was near death's door with typhoid fever. 
Dad, his brothers, Rob and George, and
sister Liz were all with scarlet fever.

Grandfather's brother, Black Jim, who
ran a saloon on the Anaconda Road, Butte
Montana, and Grandmother's brother
John Harrington. an Butte miner went
to Rhyolite to lend a hand. There was no
welfare in those days. People took care
of their own.

Black Jim and John brought my family
back to Butte. Mike was buried in
St Patrick's cemetery. Ironically, the
same week as Sean Harrington A Buaile
(Sean of the Field). The field is in
Kilcatherine, Eyeries, ( The Northern
Parish)Beara, where my O Sullivan and
Harrington relations fought a turf war in
Famine times.

Sean's mother was Mary O Sullivan of
Shronebirrane, Tuosist Parish , Kerry.
A very ancient, remote mountainous
place containing standing stones and
ring forts dating back to neolithic times.


Sean was grandmother Julia's father and
my great grandfather. Sean was a miner too.
He died of the miner's con. Quartz crystals
in the dusty mines eventually shredded the
hard rock miner's lungs ending in a hard
death. The mines were a dangerous place.
Many  more died in cave ins, explosions
and other accidents.

The visitor to St Patrick's cemetery, Butte
will see row upon row of young Beara boys
and men, whose lives ended prematurely
in their 20's and 30's. Quite different from
their long lived relations and ancestors in
Beara who lived to the 80's, 90's and some
more than 100.

My great grand uncle Paddy O'Sullivan
Sounish (The Peaceful), of Killaugh in
the Allihies or Western Parish,  uncle of my
grandmother Julia, lived to 96, despite being a
Famine baby.

Grandmother Julia ran a boarding house
for Irish miners on the Anaconda Road in
Dublin Gulch, Butte, a few doors away from
Black Jim's saloon.

In August 1913, grandmother Julia had
enough of Butte. She brought the family
back to Beara. She went to her uncle
Paddy Soonish's farm in Killaugh, with
Rob, George and Liz.

My father went to the home farm of
his father's  aging parents,  Sean Michil Anna
O Sullivan and Johanna O Sullivan Shearhig
Inchinteskin, Eyeries Parish. There 12 children
had scattered, except for Kate, who never
married.

My father and his First Cousin Pat's O Sullivan
Cahou worked the farm for their grandparents.

There are more than 23 branches of the O Sullivan
family in Eyeries Parish. And many more in the
Allihies, Castletown, Adrigole Parishes and
beyond to Kenmare, Kerry and Bantry, Cork.

historian of the clan, said were long-tailed
families of 12, 15 or more children. In Beara
they married young and had very large families.

Black Jim came back to Inchinteskin about
the time of WW1 and the troubles. He built
a fine house opposite the old home place,
But, never lived long to enjoy it. Black Jim
died during a Black and Tan raid. 

The Blacks and Tans were released prisioner
military units that the English sent to Beara
to terrorize the people into submission. It
did not work.

My father, Pat's Cohou and many other
young men were with the West Cork IRA
flying columns that beat the Black and Tans.

In August 1925, my father sailed from Cobh
for Boston, never to return.

Relations told me, that his dog kept a  long
vigil for my father at the cross roads waiting in
vain for his return.

One day I asked my father why he never
went back. He said he wanted to remember
Inchinteskin and Beara as they were, for
they were the finest days of his life.

These thoughts came back to me as I
turned the page on The Beara calendar
sent to me my Cousin Cathy Dennehey
Murphy, Church Gate, Castletownbere.

The lovely picture of Garnish appeared.
My father told me of Garnish, Allihies
Parish, where he went fishing for mackeral.

12 men in a long boat, most of whom could
nor swim, rowing out into the Atlantic
and returning in boats laden with fish and
the water lapping at the gunwhales.

Many relations live nearby still today
including Nora O Sullivan Lowney who
at 96 was still walking the 3 miles each
way to Cahermore Church and Mary
O Sullivan, Scrivogue, Garnish.

Here in America, August is often referred
to as the dog days of August. Wonder
what the Grand Ayatollah of Iran  thinks
about that?
