POLITICAL PARTY's
IN RETROSPECT. THE
PARTY OF DAN O'CONNELL

Political parties were not contemplated
by the Founders in writing the Constitution.

Political party's evolved as a means of ballot
access kicking in to high gear with the election
of President Andrew Jackson and the coming of
the age of the "common man".

Here in Albany the Billy Barnes Republican
machine ruled with an iron hand  around the
turn of the 19th century.

The O'Connell's ran a saloon in the South End.
They were Republicans then.

But, they were kept down by the Yankees.

The O'Connell's united with the German
immigrants who patronized their saloon.

Dan O'Connell campaigned for Assessor after
WWI in his U S Navy sailor uniform.

The party of Dan O'Connell was born. Dan
brought the Ryans and Quinn to town.

Corning was put up as Yankee front, but Dan
ran the party for 50 years.

Nothing lasts forever. Dan, Charlie, Dick, Bob
and the boys and the loyal electorate are gone.

The party of Dan O Connell is no more, having
been hijacked by the leftists who gained control
first of the Albany schools, the City government
and now are locked in a power struggle with
Frank Sr, for control of the County.

When we first rolled into Albany after having
beeen an earliest of backers of Governor elect
Carey, I went directly to Dan's House on Whitehall
Rd. Charlie Ryan answered the door. Dan gruffly
said "let the kid come in"

After an hour's talking.  Dan said: "you are in Kid
your one of us". Sweetest words of welcome I ever
did hear.  Dan sent us down to Charlie Dahm at
Albany County Board of. Elections, winking
Charlie
said of course  you and the wife are enrolling
Democrat?
Smiling, I said.."of course". We voted for Jim Coyne
and Eddie Stack and met the later that night at
Mike Byron's Washington Tavern.

Dan made me a Democratic in old ward 9 (now 8).

Sadly, Corning tried to beat me down and run me
out of town because he thought that I was a threat
to him.

One night he called Governor Carey at the Mansion
shouting. he wanted Sullivan out of town. Governor
Carey said: "you do...now?" and hung up on Erastus.

Suffice it to say- my last 45 years in Albany have
been a political donnybrook. Some might say an
epic story of political survival tilting at windmills.

Corning is gone RIP. Now, I am an old man running
for Mayor of Albany on the legacy party established
by Dan...The Albany County Conservative Party.

What will it be Albany City voters? Albany becoming
Detroit on the Hudson  or  restoring the City of Albany
to fiscal solvency and the rule of law with Dan smiling
down from above?

Your call  November 7. All ashore that's going ashore.
Liberty call.

may live free.

The least you can do cast informed
votes so that you and yours may continue to live in
freedom, rather than under the control of political
tyrants  and /or a caliphate whose agenda is the
fundamental (radical) transformation of America.
