SNAP REFORM NEEDED

In it's present form, the SNAP program
is subject to many potential abuses.

http://www.dailyfinance.com/2013/11/25/food-stamps-insufficient-improve-food-security-diet-study/

The Supplementay Nutrition Assistance
Program (SNAP) needs to be reformed.

1. Restrict foods that can be purchased
to staples, such as, cheese, oatmeal, milk
peanut butter, olive oil, eggs, pasta, dried
beans, peas, potatoes, carrots, turnips, etc.

2. Require SNAP recipients to disclose
if they patronize food pantries or receive
free meals in schools.

3. Require SNAP recipients to prepare
a monthly food budget, to take advantage
of sale items,  and to learn how to prepare
low cost, nutritious meals from scratch.

4. Encourage SNAP recipients to buy
from local farmers and farm markets
whenever possible.

DON'T GIVE UP...

For three nights as the moon waxed
full, humped 42 wheelbarrows of chips
and compost to restore the garden plots
where I have gardened for nearly a 1/3
of a century.

A way to regain one's bearings in a
world gone astray.

The air was crisp and the sky clear.

The tiger cat greeted me each evening
as she went hunting for rodents.

The Dubliners  convey it all.....

PROGRESSIVES TAKE
ALBANY AFTER 100 YEARS.
THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY
OF DAN O'CONNELL IS NO
MORE. RIP.

Less than 15.000 city voters voted
in the citywide elections, November 5.

Two thirds of city voters stayed home.

The Progressives took control of
city government - for the next four
years.

City residents have been reduced to
serfdom. The fault lies with the 2/3
of city voters, who failed to vote
November 5.

Control of county government is next
on the Progressive agenda.

Albany, and the rest of Upstate NY
cities are vassals of state government

Gone are the days when  a city mayors
were powerful and in control of the fates
of their cities.

Cities are now ruled by the federal and
state governments who control cities
via financial aid that comes with strings
(mandates) attached.

Ballot Propositions
1 through 6

A very plain language
summary:

#1 Allow casinos.  My
vote is yes, hoping that
the City of Albany will
be the site of one. Jobs
and expanded tax base.

However, drilling for
NY natural gas will be
the catalyst for economic
revival of Albany and
the Erie Canal-Hudson
corridor.

#2 Yes for extra credits
civil service credits for
disabled vets. They have
earned it.

#3 Yes. Because Albany's
credit rating would be
lowered if sewer rehab
costs were included in
determining the City
debt limit.

Property taxpayers would
pay more, if this happens.

City services would be cut.

#4  Yes. settles outstanding
land title claim in Adirondack
Park.

#5  Yes. Keeps jobs of locals
in Adirondacks where jobs
are few and provides a rare
a rare mineral which is a
substitute for asbestos.

#6 Yes. There should be no
job age limits for persons who
are physically and mentally
fit.

THANK YOU
ALL OVER ALBANY

All Over Albany, a popular local blog
interviewed Albany Mayoral candidates
Portelli, Calhoun and myself, this past
Saturday.

http://alloveralbany.com/archive/2013/11/04/talking-with-the-republican-green-and-conservative#issuesq

These interviews provide Albany
voters with a basis for making a
more  informed choice for Mayor
in the Tuesday, November 5 election.

The Albany Mayoral race of 2013
is a watershed for the City and all
who call Albany home.

Albany is at a crossroads. Which
road to take?

Campaign reform can be achieved
without government intervention
and public financing of campaigns.

All that remains is for voters to do
their part - go to the polls and cast
informed votes.

THE END OF THE TRAIL
 ALBANY AT THE CROSSROADS

ALL THAT REMAINS IS FOR THE
VOTERS TO GO TO THE POLLS
AND DECIDE WHICH WAY ALBANY
WILL GO.

Have a pint, or two, or a drop of the
craether and enjoy a session to chase
 away those Obamacare blues.

Want campaign reform?  Keep the
