PASS THE RIFLES AND AMMO
Carol DeMare reports in today's Times Union
that the NY State Police are considering
arming patrols with rifles.
http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=764162&category=REGION
Governor Paterson should immediately
direct that the State Police leadership
get on the ball - arm the patrol officers
with the rifles , arms and other
equipment they need to protect
themselves and us.
America is at war. We are fighting a
War on Terror, initiated by radical
Jihadists who want to destroy us
America and our way of life.
Our borders are wide open.
Tens of millions of illegal aliens
have flooded our country.
No doubt foreign terrorists and
weapons of mass destruction
(WMD's...you know the one's
that Saddam shipped out to
Syria before we acted) have
already crossed our borders.
We are engaged in a War on
Drugs. Mexico is on the verge
of collapse and falling under
complete control of the drug
cartels.
Gangs are proliferating in
our urban areas. They are
allies of the foreign terrorists
that seek to destroy us.
The gangs and terrorist
sleepers are armed with
AK 47's and probably an
assortment of RPG's
shoulder fired missles
and more.
Our State and local police
patrols only have side arms??
When the terror sleeper cells
and their gangbanger allies
are given the signal to strike.
Law enforcement and the public
will be defenseless.
Far Left Democrats are undermining
our national security, setting the stage
for the fall of America. President
Obama's recent executive orders and
the coming push to deprive law
abiding citizens of their Second Amendment
right to bear arms, coupled with failure
to adequately arm state and local police
will seal our fate.

STICK TO YOUR GUNS
SENATOR GILLIBRAND
The Downstate leftwing Democrats
have ambushed you on two issues
of major significance:
1. Upholding Second Amendment
Right of law abiding citizens to
bear arms, and
2. Ending New York's status as a
sanctuary city/state of illegal
aliens.
As U.S. Senator, you have the
opportunity to do what is right
for New York and America.
This is your opportunity to lead
rather than being a me-too
pawn of Senator Chuck and his
leftist Downstate supporters.
As the events of this year unfold
New Yorkers will come to realize
that upholding Second Amendment
rights and ending New York's sanctuary
status for illegal aliens are essential
for security and economic reasons.

How do these repair America's moral standing?

Dick Cheney

Speaking at the press conference at which
Governor Paterson anounced his appoint-
ment of Kirsten Gillibrand to fill the U S
Senate Seat from New York vacated by
now Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ...
now Senior Senator Chuck Schumer

Upstate, during hunting season.
Schumer shot down one of his own.
Schumer raised the issue of gun control
saying that Gillibrand would have to
support gun control, an issue near and
dear to him (and President Obama), as
well a far left NYC Democrats.
Schumer immediately put Gillibrand
in a position that will assure her
defeat in the 2010 General Election
if not the 2010 Democratic Primary.
Gillibrand opposed gun control as
Congresswoman earning her NRA
support.
Now, Kirsten is on the spot. Which
is it? Support 2nd Amendment
Rights or gun control?
Does she carry Upstate or Downstate?
Or neither?
Senator Chuck shot his mouth off
before evaluating the consequences
of this wild shot. Or, did he?
Wonder what Hillary will say to
him now?
As for President Obama calling
in during the press conference...
where was he when Caroline
Kennedy was being trashed?
Caroline and Teddy must rue the
day that they embraced BHO over
Hillary.
Camelot is history. Sherwood
Forest is in.
Hillary was spot on, regarding her
Democratic Primary positions on
the 2nd Amendment and
Commander In Chief .

CHANGE SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL?
1. Hillary loses the 2008
Democratic Presidential Primary.
2. Obama wins.
He gets the prize but has no team to field.
3. Hillary and Bill Clinton provide the team...
their team of presidential cabinet appointees.
Hillary gets Secretary of State.
4. Obama immediately begins to self-destruct
issuing 5 Executive Orders that undermine
national security
and amount to attempting to govern by decree
by-passing the Congress.
5. Obama, who once said, we can't drill
our way out of the oil crisis, embarks
on a mad plan to spend our
way out of the economic crisis.
6. Obama likens himself to Lincoln.
Lincoln freed the slaves and was
Commander In Chief during the
Civil War. The bloodiest in American history.
That Civil War was a sectional conflict pitting
North against South. Ironically, Obama appears
to be promoting a social and legislative agenda
that could trigger a second civil war which the
nation will not survive. An Obama nominee
Robert Reich testifies before Congress saying
white construction workers should be excluded
from jobs funded by Obama's infrastructure
stimulus plan.
7. Meanwhile, Queen Hillary
a masterful politician
consolidates her control over national and
New York politics.
8. Governor Paterson dumps Caroline Kennedy
hard. Instead choosing Hillary protege Kirsten
Gillibrand. Setting the stage for a wild 2010
Primary and General Election scramble for
federal and state offices in New York.
9. Gillibrand may be able to fill the void left by
the departure of State Senate Majority Leader
Joe Bruno, to benefit the Capitol District in
these tough economic times.
Maybe she can lead the way to (1) scrapping
the plan to dredge Hudson PCB's and
reallocate those funds to rebuilding and
improving the water/sewer infrastructure
of Albany, Troy, Watervliet, Cohoes and
smaller river communities; (2) restore
the Erie Canal-Hudson River waterway
to move freight and passengers,
(3) build light rail lines to connect cities
surburbs and rural areas and (4) foster
a concerted effort to weed out crime and
urban blight in Capitol District cities
making them safe and attractive for
the population shift back to the cities
as oil becomes expensive and scarce.
Gillibrand has taken a big leap. Moving
from a safe congressional seat, where
she enjoyed good relations with Speaker
Pelosi.
The demands of being Senator, and having
to run in a statewide campaign in 2010
are bound to take a toll on Gillibrand
and her young children.
We wish her, and them, well. We hope
she can deliver for us and all New Yorkers.
10. As for the 2oth congressional district
Current Assembly Minority Leader
Jim Tedisco is far and away the best
choice to succeed Gillibrand.
Having Jim as Congressman
will also benefit, the Capitol District.
In sum, Queen Hillary rules! Maybe in
the end, a benevolent monarchy is just
what a celebrity, American Idol crazed

Maybe, Hillary is just what is needed to
bring the radical Islamic jihadists, who
threaten our national, and individual

We see a picture of the President dwarfed by the
vastness of the oval office. Clearly over his head.
We see pictures of Hillary and Caroline.
Hillary to the left, looking confident and smug.
Caroline looking devastated.
What conclusions can be drawn here?
1. Barack Hussein Obama is not John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
2. Caroline Kennedy is not JFK
3. BHO may be President and Hillary may be Secretary of State
4. In reality Hillary is Queen of the U.S , and maybe the world.
5. BHO is a figurehead. Hillary and Bubba run the game.
BHO's cabinet is a Clinton cabinet. JayZee and L'll JayZee

6. Camelot done. BHO says: "see ya". He is helpless

8. Payback time! Hillary scuttles Caroline's U S Senate
bid to be Hillary's successor.
9. BHO and David Paterson fall in line.
10. Congresswoman Gillibrand is a protege of
Hillary
11. Even though Gillibrand's selection for U S

prospects of David Paterson, Paterson
must cave. He needs bail out money from

Conclusion: Hillary Rules!. She is the Queen

HABITAT ALERT ***********
INVASIVE SPECIES INVADES
BUCKINGHAM POND HABITAT
Pink-Billed Demo-Loons have migrated to Buckingham Pond and the
surrounding neighborhood.
The usual habitat for Demo-Loons is downtown.
Demo-Loons are an aggressive species that seeks to control the entire
City of Albany habitat. They masquerade as doves but, are in reality
buzzards.
Demo-Loons eat their young and rob the nests of indigenous species.
Demo-Loons have a distinct leftward flight pattern. Their voice ranges
from falsetto wails, weird yodelling by day, and maniacal quavering
laughter at night, to barking in flight.
Demo-Loons also quack like ducks to induce Buckingham Pond Neighborhood residents to feed them.
Do not feed the ducks signs are prominently posted at the pond.
Buckingham Pond Neighborhood residents are strongly urged NOT TO
FEED THE DUCKS , INCLUDING THESE INVASIVE DEMO-LOONS.
Failure to heed this warning will result in eradication of local
indigenous species, such as the Jennings Bird and the Igoe Bird, as
well as destruction of the Buckingham Pond Neighborhood habitat
and entire City of Albany habitat.
These invaders pretend to be a " newly forming non-partisan group dedicated to protecting, preserving and enhancing Buckingham Pond."
They further claim that they "envision a group that will work closely with Albany City departments to plan improvements and provide assistance
when appropriate."
THE FACTS ARE:
1. this group is extremely partisan
2. they have been around for years, engaged in a power struggle to
control city schools, and, now, city government
3. they are using Buckingham Pond protection, preservation and
enhancement as a ruse to dupe neighborhood residents into
supporting the candidates for Mayor and Common Council that this
group backs. Watch for their candidacy announcements.
Jennings and Igoe are NOT those candidates.
4. All three of the principals in this group are newcomers to this neighborhood. The spouse of one is an Assistant AG,
one is a Times Union reporter, the other a longtime activist in the Mansion Hill Neighborhood, as well as with CANA
The Council of Albany Neighborhood Associations.
All are leftwing and associates of a
City Court Judge and his, spouse, who is a member of the Albany
City School Board.
5. We already have a Neighborhood Association that, through my
efforts, with the cooperation of former 14th Ward Alderman Harold
Greenstein, resulted in the creation of Buckingham Pond Park.
6. Park problems are identified and needed improvement actions
posted on the the Association website:
http://bpcnanews.blogspot.com/
7. We already work with Mayor Jennings, Alderman Igoe and City
Departments to maintain and improve Buckingham Pond.
In short, there is no need to support formation of the "Buckingham
Pond Conservancy". It is a political front group for those who want
to take an end run around the existing Buckingham Pond/Crestwood
Neighborhood Association (which has actively protected and improved
this neighborhood for the past 21 years); and it is a blatent attempt to
unseat Mayor Jennings and Alderman Igoe, and wrest control of Albany
City government.
Unless the Times Union says otherwise, we must assume that the
participation of one of their star reporters in this rump group is a clear
signal that the Times Union is a partisan supporter of the groups political motivation.
Neighborhood residents may wish to cancel theit Times Union subscriptions, in protest of this media political partisanship.
Those who attend the organization of the "Conservancy" on this coming
Saturday (see link below) must be assumed to be sympathizers and
supporters of this political front group.
That is their right. Just remember...if it quacks like a duck...it just

RC CHURCH RIP
The announced church closings
and mergers of largely urban Catholic
parishes in Albany, Troy, Cohoes and
Watervliet is a wrong move for
the future of the Church as well as for
the future of those cities.
The reasons given for these actions
include demographic changes, high
maintenance costs, a declining number
of priests and low attendance at Mass.
There are other reasons not mentioned.
The result of these closures/mergers will
only produce further decline in
the Church as well as in the neighborhoods
and cities.
Churches and neighborhood schools are
the anchors of neighborhoods.
Remove these anchors and neighborhoods/
neighborhood identities disappear.
In cities, like Albany, where a dysfunctional
school district/school board
treats children, parents and homeowner-
taxpayers as pawns, neighborhoods have
deteriorated.
The church closings/parish mergers will
only accentuate urban decline, accelerating
flight from the cities and accelerating
decline of the property tax base that supports
city governments and city public schools.
The shortage of priests can be addressed
by recalling priests from the foreign
missions. Reach out to particular Orders
to get the priests to man these parishes.
Low Mass attendance has many causes.
Growing secularism of society is a major
factor. However, the clergy must examine
their own behaviors as another major
factor.
The churches, clergy and nuns are very
different than the 1950's when the
Church was at it's peak. When Bishop
Fulton Sheen and others delivered
television homilies which connected
with the people. When Father Peyton
promoted praying the Rosary. When
nuns could be easily recognized, and
lived in communities, in convents.
In a word, the Church has lost
relevance in the lives of the people.
It is an irony that the Church is
contributing to urban decline and
further decline of Church membership
and attendance, when we are on the
verge of people returning to the cities.
The current respite in oil prices and
availability is temporary. High prices
will soon return and oil will become
scarce and not available at any price.
Those living in the surburbs and
countryside will return to the cities.
We should be stabilizing good urban
neighborhoods, revitalizing blighted
ones and rebuilding the aging urban
water and sewer infrastructures to
facilitate this reverse population flow.
These old churches may in need of
some repairs, but they are far more
solidly constructed than many newer
ones.
A case it point: St Teresa's church is
closing while the parish merges with
St. Catherine's. Compare the construction
of the two. Which is more sound and
likely to outlast the other?
Of course, St Catherine's has a parking
lot while St Teresa's does not. Even now
parked cars spill over to the adjoining
side streets. This problem will only
intensify after the merger. The irony
is that, in a few short years, the parking
lot will be empty because of oil shortages
and prices.
The church will be empty because the
parish population will be too far flung
and people will not be able, or willing
to walk any great distance to attend
Mass.
The low participation in school budget
votes illustrates that people in the
city neighborhoods will not venture
to one or two central polling places
in their ward to vote. Of course, the
school district/board know this and
deliberately open only a few polling
places to depress voter turnout
particularly by older homeowners
who vote at their neighborhood
polling places, and who are more
likely to vote against school budgets
because those elderly homeowners
are trying to survive of declining
incomes.
It troubles me to see the flock
cave in while their heritages and
neighborhoods are being trashed.
Closure of St Teresa's church and
school will result in that fine
neighborhood becoming the next
Park South.
Albany is on the verge of becoming
another Trenton, New Jersey.
If the flock won't rise up for this,
what will they do when their very
survival and the survival of America
are on the line?
RC Church RIP is a major step
toward America RIP.

The announced church closings
and mergers of largely urban Catholic
parishes in Albany, Troy, Cohoes and
Watervliet is a wrong move for
the future of the Church as well as for
the future of those cities.
The reasons given for these actions
include demographic changes, high
maintenance costs, a declining number
of priests and low attendance at Mass.
There are other reasons not mentioned.
The result of these closures/mergers will
only produce further decline in
the Church as well as in the neighborhoods
and cities.

Remove these anchors and neighborhoods/

ALBANY CITY SCHOOLS- TIME FOR CHANGE.
A MAJOR ISSUE IN THE 2009 ALBANY CITY
ELECTIONS FOR MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL.
Listening to the callers on Mayor Jenning's Radio
Show (WDGJ-1300 9 -10 AM) this past Friday
underscored the idea that the time is right
for change in the Albany City Schools.
Callers from the lower 8th ward, who live in the
shadow of the Meyers Middle School, complained
that the City School District was preventing
their children from attending that school, and
forcing them to go to Hackett Middle School.
One caller also complained that parents in Arbor
Hill were upset that Livingston Middle School
students were being forced to go either to Meyers
or Hackett because Livingston was being closed.
Why?
The Albany City Schools and School Board are
clearly dysfunctional.
Children and their parents, as well as all city
property taxpayers, who are being forced to fund
this dysfunction, are all being short changed.
Hard Economic times are here.
Time for change in the Albany City Schools!
1. Disband the Albany City School District and
School Board. Place the responsibility and
accountability for the city public
schools with the Office of the Mayor.
2. Return to a K-8 neighborhood school system
which is best for kids
parents and neighborhood stability.
This will end the discriminatory attendance
lottery system and
eliminate the need for bussing which will
save fuel, fuel costs and associated air pollution.
Students will be able to walk to school.
They will be less obese and not waste hours
of their young lives as forced commuters.
Parents will be able to play a more active role
in the education of all their children, because all
will attend the same school.
Teachers will be better able to track
the progress of the students from K - 8
because students will attend the same
school for those years.
3. End the the dual system of property taxation
which is placing a terrible burden on the 1/3
of residential dwellings, that are owner-
occupied in the city- most of these by senior
citizens on fixed incomes.
Also, negatively impacted by this dual taxation
system are businesses.
Establish ONE property tax to fund both
city government, services and city public schools.
4. Trim the fat from the bloated school
administration which is too
large and too costly.
5. Place more responsibility for learning
and behavior,on students,
parents and teachers.
6. Academically challenged students shall be
diverted to trade/ occupational training which
provides them with skills
attitudes and behaviors necessary to become
functioning, productive, contributors to society.
This curriciculum shall include
public service restoring blighted neighborhoods
working in hospitals, etc.
7. Recalitrant, malcontents shall undergo
attitude and behavioral adjustment early on.
This can occur at the neighborhood schools.
If these problems persist, offenders shall be
schools and shipped to a boot camp academy
at Camp McGregor were they undergo vigorous
attitude/behavioral adjustment by
a staff of military veterans.
8. All schools shall provide safe learning
environments, conducive to learning by
those who want to learn. School uniforms shall
replace gang colors/insignia.
A strict conduct code in school and in the
neighborhoods going to and from school
shall apply.
9. Governor Paterson and our elected
State Senate/Assembly representatives must
make the necessary legislative amendments
providing for the City of Albany
and the voters of this city, to
act on these proposals this year.
10. Time has come to change the way
city schools are funded. Most of the
student body comes from households
that do not pay property taxes.
The costs of education must be fairly
borne by all...not just property tax
paying homeowners and businesses.
11. The above questions should be put to
the voters when the May School Budget vote
occurs. All city polling places shall be open!
12. City voters/taxpayers should have the
final say on approval or
disapproval of school budgets.
One vote binding. No reruns.
If a budget is voted down, the prior years
next school year. No phoney 4 percent
property cap legislation!
13. Once the city schools and school board
are disbanded, one property tax created to
fund city government and schools,
and the Mayor responsible/accountable
for city public schools
there will be no need for school budget
votes and school board elections.
If city property taxpayers and voters
are not happy with
the functioning and cost
of city schools, the buck will stop at
the desk of one person-
the Mayor.

A TIME FOR INCREASED VIGILANCE
FRIGID WEATHER. HOPEFULLY, HOMELAND SECURITY
HAS TAKEN ADEQUATE STEPS TO SECURE THE
NE POWER GRID.
SURVIVAL WOULD BE DIFFICULT IF SUCH FRIGID
CONDITIONS WERE TO CONTINUE FOR THE REST
OF THE WINTER...AND WE
HAD NO ELECTRIC POWER.
DO NOT BE LULLED INTO A FALSE SENSE OF
SECURITY.
BASED ON THE UPCOMING CHANGE IN
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
WE ARE , IN FACT, MORE VULNERABLE THAN
ANYTIME SINCE 9-11.
SINCERE THANKS TO OUTGOING PRESIDENT
GEORGE BUSH, HOMELAND SECURITY, LAW
ENFORCEMENT, THE CIA AND OUR MILITARY
FOR KEEPING US SAFE FROM FURTHER ATTACKS
ON THE HOME FRONT SINCE THEN.
WE HAVE REASON TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT
THE PRESENT AND FUTURE.

THE STATE OF THE STATE
Governor Paterson is a talented man.
Herewith, are some thoughts as to
what the State of the State should
include:
1. Balancing the budget. Reduce spending.
No new spending.
Responsible New Yorkers are doing so.
Government must do the same.
End sanctuary status for New York
City and New York State.
Require state/ US citizenship
for receiving any social services and
educational benefits, or jobs.
Uneducated, illegal aliens are a drain
on government and law enforcement
budgets, at every level.
Illegals compete with citizens who
will be looking for work in these
times of rising unemployment.
Wean lifers off welfare and social
service systems Reform those
systems to discourage rewarding
destructive, anti-social behaviors,
including teen age pregnancies.
(See earlier post, this blog for more
specifics).
2. Health Care.
All adults over 18
(except if in school) should be
responsible for their own health
and health care.
An obesity tax on soft drinks is
absurd. What will be taxed next?
Why not enact an across the board
fat tax for any adult or child that
exceeds the recommended weight
applicable to their sex, age, height
and physical frame?
Eating less and more exercise is
the answer. This should be a
personal responsibility not
mandated by government.
Not, to worry. With hard economic
times, the obesity problem will
quickly disappear.
3. Education
To become educated, one must
desire to learn, make the effort
to learn and put into practice
that which is learned.
We spend much too much
money and resources
trying to educate unwilling
students who do not value
learning, who do not make
the effort to learn, and who
do not behave in a manner
that demonstrates that they
are, in fact, capable of being
productive, responsible
members of society.
Children who come from
dysfunctional households
and neighborhoods can not
be expected to change.
The responsibility for
improved aspirations and
behaviors lies with
the adults in those households
and neighborhoods, the
churches and with the children
themselves.
Public schools that lack
disciplined environments
where unwilling learners
detract from students who
desire to learn, serve neither
well.
Every child need not go to college.
Particularly those not academically
motivated or equipped.
Such students must be steered
to careers in trades , and other
occupations which afford them
opportunities to be productive
members of society, who earn
a decent living.
The recalcitrant, unwilling
learners should be culled out
of school early and sent to
Boot Camp educational settings
staffed by former military.
Rather than close facilities
like Mt McGregor, convert
the them to boot camp academies.
Involve those participants in
public service work improving
blighted neighborhoods and
deteriorated urban utility/
infrastructure renewal, urban
forestry, etc. Teach them skills
behaviors, attitudes, and values
so that they become well adjusted
productive members of society.
Offer technical, trade, occupational
diplomas to those not academically
inclined or equipped.
Expand the New York Guard or
state organized militia provided for
under the State Constitution.
This body takes over when the
National Guard is activated and
sent out of state.
The New York Guard should have
a construction and public service
focus as well as security mission.
Provide 19,and 20 +year old volunteers
with a modest stipend, health benefits
educational opprtunities, free college
tuition at community colleges, etc.
An expanded New York Guard home
defense/construction/public service
force is a wise move when we are
facing more emergencys, natural
and man made disasters and terrorist
threats.
Do not give people health care, food
an education....have them earn it!
4. Energy and Environment. Focus on Upstate.
Conserve. Use less energy.
Shift away from private vehicles
to rebuilding canals and waterways
rail roads and light rail lines to
move freight and passengers.
Most of New York's population
still resides in the Hudson River
Mohawk-Erie Canal corridors.
Rebuild the transportation, utility
manufacturing and
urban infrastructures of those
corridors.
Create an independent Erie Canal
Authority, seperate from the NYS
Thruway, and seek domestic and
foreign investment to achieve the
above objectives.
Scrap plan to dredge Hudson
River PCB's. Reallocate millions
of dollars to rebuild aging water
and sewer infrastructure of
Troy, Albany, Cohoes
Watervliet and river towns.
Scrap the taxpayer give aways to
AMD and other such outfits, investing
in blue collar jobs in transportation
utilities, manufacturing, trades and
construction.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are not
the way to go in the vastness of Upstate.
Natural gas, water power and, yes, coal
will be required for transporation, heating
and electric power production.
Expand agriculture and food production
processing base of Upstate as well as
forestry potential.
In our unstable times, it is wise to
rely more on local food production.
These are but a few suggestions that can
restore New York to it's former place as
the Empire State.
