NYS SENATE APPROVES
MAYORAL CONTROL OF

NEW YORK CITY SCHOOLS

Read:http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=828138

Why not an amendment to this
legislation including the City of
Albany? Consolidating city schools
with city government, creating ONE
property tax role to fund both
returning to K-8 neighborhood
schools; making the Mayor and
Common Council responsible/
accountable for performance of
city schools?

Why not? Because no current
Member of the Council had the
courage to introduce the Home
Rule Request asking the State
Legislature to so amend state
law.

A golden opportunity to improve
city schools and provide needed
property tax relief for homeowners
and businesses in the City of Albany.

The Common Council blew it!

Remember this when you vote
in the September 15 Democratic
Primaries, and agian November 3.

Why not an amendment closing Albany's schools and mandating they all go to Colonie, Bethlehem and Guilderland!!!! That ought to end our school district problems and stop the exodus to other towns.
